Switzerland is expensive and our estimate reflects that honestly. Some students look further along the rail line, or across the Italian border, where rent drops considerably — Swiss regional trains are frequent enough to make that work. Weigh the saving against a longer day and a cross-border leg that Swiss transit passes do not cover.
