Where you could live
Luxembourg City is one of the most expensive places to live in Europe, and our estimate assumes you are close to the clinic. Plenty of students take the other route and find a place just over the border in southern Belgium or France, where rent goes considerably further. Both are Schengen, so there is no visa hurdle — but Luxembourg's free transport stops at the border, and most students who live over it run a car. Getting to the clinic
No car needed. Public transport across Luxembourg is free everywhere, and the tram runs from the airport directly through Kirchberg where the clinic is.
What it costs
Living in the city near the clinic works out around EUR 2,650 a month, and you will not need a car — every bus, tram and second-class train in Luxembourg is free. Living over the border costs meaningfully less in rent, though you will probably want a car at roughly EUR 1,100 a month. We can talk you through both, including what recent students paid.
About the area
All public transport in Luxembourg — buses, trams and second-class trains — has been free since March 2020, the first country in the world to abolish fares entirely. The tram line completed in March 2025 runs from the airport through Kirchberg to Cloche d'Or, 24 stations over 16 km.
