Post-acute rehabilitation with a caseload spanning brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and joint replacement, alongside skilled nursing and outpatient work. Aquatic therapy and a robotic gait trainer are available to students. Set in the hills outside Arezzo, a walkable Tuscan city on the main Florence–Rome line.
Primarily inpatient rehabilitation, with skilled nursing and outpatient also available at the hospital. Patients range from brain injuries and strokes to spinal cord injury and joint replacements. Aquatic therapy available, and a Lexo robotic gait trainer. Three credentialed CIs; coordinator of interns Giovanni Giambrone. 35-40 hours per week, Mon-Fri, clinic open 08:00-19:00; the CI works every other Saturday morning if a university requires extra hours. Working language Italian.
We arrange somewhere for you within easy reach of the clinic, and the cost we quote is for that. You are welcome to find your own instead — just talk to us first. In a town this size the saving is usually small and the choice limited, so most students are happy to take what we have lined up.
About 30 minutes by city bus from central Arezzo, roughly 14 minutes of that on foot. Walking the whole way takes over an hour, so plan on the bus. No car needed.
Accommodation is EUR 245 p/wk per student, and you will not need a car. You are welcome to arrange your own place instead — talk to us first and we will tell you whether it is worth it here.
The institute is run by the Passionist Fathers and its A-Ria centre provides residential rehabilitation with a dedicated pool and robotics for motor and neurological recovery. Ten of its beds are contracted to ASL Toscana Sud-Est for intensive extra-hospital rehabilitation, and it runs summer respite admissions for older people and their carers.
